* Short History These popular classes originated at the North Sydney Community Centre over 25 years ago. They were originally introduced by Dr Doreen Bridges, an eminent early childhood music educator who has made a huge contribution to early childhood music education in NSW since the 1970's. The value of her contribution cannot be underestimated.
* What do the children do in the music class? In these unique music and movement classes, the children discover the joy of music through the rhythm of life! They discover their bodies and their voices are a fundamental connection to the language of music, building the skills which are required for further music education.
* What do the classes focus on? The program focuses on the development of the children's auditory, visual and physical responses to music through singing, rhythmic movement and the use of percussion instruments.
*Other benefits for children Other benifits for children in these classes include helping to develop good listening skills and learning to co operate and socially interact in a supportive group environment.
* About Jane Boyd Jane is a trained early childhood music specialist. She has been teaching for over 15 years and brings a wealth of experience and understanding to her work.
This is a carefully researched, sequential and development music program, referring to the teaching philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly and Jacques Dalcroze.
