Expressive Painting: Monday Morning

Develop your individual creativity. Learn to compose an image for painting, mix and match colour and capture dynamic light and shade. Gain a variety of skills including dry brush, glazing, opaque work, blending and more.

This term we will be looking at the expressive work of Van Gogh, Franz Marc and Clarice Beckett. Van Gogh's energetically and boldly executed flower paintings and street scenes, the heightened colour of Marc's horses, and the dreamy, moody landscapes of Beckett. We will examine technique, composition and colour choices (palette) of each artist, and apply them to our own work.

For members of the class who wish to pursue their own projects: you are very welcome. Alex will help you resolve issues you may be having and make suggestions.

This course is suitable for beginner through to intermediate students.
