As part of Craft Week 2019, Basketry NSW members, lead by Sally Blackwell and Nicole Robins will provide a free hands on workshop teaching both string making and coiling techniques. We will use both up cycled materials and natural fibres. Feel free to bring any fabric or string remnants you may like to use. The weaving circle will be held in Civic Park, North Sydney alongside the Northside Produce market -with over 70 stallholders bringing the best fresh produce, exceptional artisanal goods and providing delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch. This is a casual drop in session, bookings preferred. First in best seated!
In the case of wet weather, the workshop will be held in the Moreton Room at the North Sydney Community Centre.
Thanks to North Sydney Council for their support.
Not suitable for U12 because of needle use.
Sally retired from teaching in 2008 and is a firm believer that everything has an inherent value and should not be wasted. She has been experimenting with natural fibres, grasses, vines and recycled materials found in her local environment to turn what might have been wasted into something useful and pleasing to the eye. She brings her environmental beliefs to her love of basketry in creative and sometimes unusual ways.
