A wonderful introduction to the practical and traditional craft of upholstery - experience the delight and satisfaction that creating something by hand brings to your life. Bring your own chair and learn how to restore it across two days and gain the confidence to tackle new projects on your own.
IMPORTANT: once you have booked your course, you will be asked to email a picture of the chair from a couple of angles to your tutor Fiona. You will also be able to contact her directly if you need to discuss the project further. This is very important so that Fiona can ensure she is prepared with all the necessities for your project. The NSCC will provide you with Fiona’s contact details via email once your booking is complete.

Fiona Edmeades trained as a traditional upholsterer and gained her City and Guilds Certificate in the craft, at the London College of Furniture in 1991. She ran her own business for several years before moving to Australia. Fiona has had a life long intrigue toward the workings behind the objects that populate our everyday lives. This coupled with her creative bent, has led her to turn her maker’s hand to many diverse applications over the years. In 2009 Fiona graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School and also works through the medium of Sculpture. Over the years, Fiona kept her upholster’s hands at work, restoring furniture, for her own pleasure, but in 2017 she reconnected with her trade on a professional level. One of Fiona greatest passions it to be able to pass on this valuable and practical skill, she teaches workshops and evening classes in both Sydney, and greater NSW.
