Violin Continuers

Learning how to read music and play the violin will enhance ones’ appreciation of the joy of music through a different perspective.

Over 9 weeks, in this small group class, continue your adventure into the world and possibilities of the violin. Respected violinist and teacher Michele brings solo, ensemble and orchestral experience and knowledge from a career that spans the Sydney music scene, and beyond. An experienced teacher, Michele will expertly guide you through further understanding this instrument, with a learning program and arrangements designed for the adult learner.

By the end of 1 term, students should be able to read music fluently, understand basic rhythm, play G, D and A major scales, and perhaps a bit of Bach, Beethoven or Pachelbel.

This class is limited to 6 students.

*During COVID: Students studying on-site at NSCC will be expected to assist their tutor in a post-course clean down of the room & anything used during this time. Please understand we are putting in strict protocols across the board to ensure the safety of our entire community.

Please bring a pencil/notebook, a music stand, and your own violin. The Sydney String Centre, Chatswood provides a rental program, please contact them on (02) 9417 2611 if you need to hire a violin. Tutor: Michele O’Young

Michele is a well-known and highly respected violinist, teacher and contractor in the Sydney music scene. Since attaining two Masters degrees in Performance (Sydney Conservatorium) and Arts Administration (UTS), and a Certificate IV in Audio Engineering (SAE), she has developed a broad range of skills across many areas of performance, administration and production. As a violinist, Michele works in many genres of the Sydney scene; ranging from classical orchestral playing with the Opera Australia Orchestra and Sydney Symphony, to performing in contemporary ensembles for the Vivid Festival, film/ television and jingle recording, and for the mainstream music theatre productions. Michele is also an experienced teacher, running a private teaching studio in St Leonards and Alexandria with students ranging from 5years old to retired adults. (M.Music, M.Arts Administration, Cert.
