Sing the Great Songs of Paul Simon ONLINE

**TWO CHOIRS FOR ONE! BOOK INTO EITHER THE CORONA CHOIR (MONDAYS) OR CHOIR ON A WIRE (THURSDAYS) AND RECEIVE FREE ACCESS TO THE SECOND EVENING CHOIR!

Nothing can replace the thrill of raising your voice in a room full of singers, but in these days of COVID-19, we can do the next best thing: sing together … alone.

We celebrate the songs of the great songwriter and Paul Simon - all his hits from the early Simon and Garfunkel days to his latest release "Stranger to Stranger" and including his wonderful songs inspired by the music of South Africa, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Peru.

Part-choir, part joyous singalong, this 9 week course will bring together people from all walks of life who love to sing Simon's wonderful songs that celebrate life and love and laughter.

No previous experience necessary.  All you need is your voice.

Choir on a Wire needs to stay online. You’ll need a device with a camera and microphone and internet connection. You’ll receive the lyrics and music you need and you’ll meet via Zoom (free downloadable program) weekly for an hour as tutor Christina Mimmocchi will take you through Mr Simon’s wonderful songs. We’ll learn the basics songs, add harmonies and even learn some tips about using our voices.

Hope to see you online in Term 3!

*This class will be delivered online in Term 3, using the Zoom video platform. To take part, you will need to download and install Zoom from the internet, and set up a free ‘basic’ account. NSCC uses platforms that we trust, but we encourage you to be aware of computer safety and protect your personal information when using the internet.

Christina first ran a choir at North Sydney Community Centre in 2006 when she started Choir on a Wire - the songs of Leonard Cohen. The class became popular and was repeated a number of times and the group performed at the National Folk Festival in Canberra in 2008. In her “other life” Christina works with various choirs around Sydney, sharing her passion of songs and singing with anyone who wants to join in. She has a particular interest in songs that connect us to places and history and has a wide folk repertoire in many languages. During COVID lockdown time she is writing songs for a new album and Zooming her heart out.
