Pilates Saturday Class 1

This is a 50 minute class with 10 minutes pack up and clean up time allocated.

Feel stronger, more energised, flexible and lengthened through Pilates’ challenging, dynamic and fun techniques. Pilates improves strength, stability and flexibility by focusing on the body’s core architectural system - the deep stabilising postural muscles of the spine and trunk, increasing control of the back, pelvis, hips, neck and shoulders. Suitable for people at all stages of life, Pilates also aids the treatment of back pain and helps reduce stress.

Check the website: for all updated details of your favourite course! There are adjustments to our regular scheduling due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please make sure to check all course details as there are some changes to start times and days. Please also be aware if you are enrolling in an ONLINE or ONSITE course as we will still have some courses running ONLINE in Term 3.

Students will also be expected to assist their tutor in a post-course clean down of the room & anything used during this time. Please understand we are putting in strict protocols across the board to ensure the safety of our entire community.

Materials List

Students will be required to bring their own equipment as we are no longer able to share equipment due to COVID safety. 

Pilates needs a mat, and the rest of this list is optional.

The following pilates equipment will enhance Pilates and Stretch and Strength Classes online. All are optional but if students want to purchase their own equipment it will add variety to their workouts.

- 2 tennis balls or a posture pro

- Spikey massage ball ( $8-10)

- Golf ball

- Small loop band (the one I use are from the Kogan website – you get about 5 bands of varying intensity for about $20)

- Long roller at least 90cm long by 15cm diameter or longer if you are tall ($30-50)

- Long bands  around 2m or buy 2 shorter ones and tie them together. Or a cable with handles on them

- Pilates ring ( $16-40)

- Block ($6-20) 

If you are wanting to do yoga
- 2 blocks and a strap (often sold in a package)

- Pilates Ball ($15) about 23cm diameter or any soft cheap kids ball about that size

These items are NOT essential, Heather will always provide alternatives but it does add to the intensity of the workout. We encourage students to shop on line as it may be easier under the current circumstances.

Otherwise Rebel Sport and most sports shops will have these items.

Tutor: Heather Crowe

Heather Crowe has been working as a Pilates Instructor for 11 years and teaches Pilates Mat Work inspired by the late creator, Joseph H Pilates. Heather discovered Pilates in 1997 to assist in the recovery from a back injury after being hit by a car on her bicycle. Realising and experiencing the benefits of Pilates she became a certified Pilates Instructor in 2003. Heather teaches Pilates with a unique method to improve deep stabilising abdominal muscle strength, toned core and buttock, flexibility, joint mobility and encourages long lean muscles for a more graceful posture. Heather is a passionate health and fitness professional and highly qualified with a:Bachelor of Physical Education Degree, NZ; Diploma in Secondary Teaching, NZ with 8 years teaching experience; Diploma in Exercise Science and Fitness Management, AUS; Cert IV Master Personal Trainer; Registered Personal Trainer with Fitness Australia NSW; Diploma in Yoga; Certified Pilates Instructor; Director of Health Conscious Personal Training since 2003 specialising in teaching Yoga, Pilates and personal training to individuals and small groups in the Lower North Shore and Eastern Suburbs.
