Yoga Monday Evening

Class capacity 6-16 students.

Yoga is a mind body practice that involves meditation, movement and breathing techniques to promote health and wellbeing.

Yoga can help develop self-awareness while improving flexibility, balance and reducing stress. In these 60-minute yoga classes, you will be guided through a variety of postures and movements (standing, sitting, and lying) with options for utilizing breath and sound techniques. Classes will be focused on alignment of body while developing and maintaining mindful attention. Although the entire class may be seen as a movement meditation, 5 minutes at the beginning and end of class will be dedicated to sitting/lying meditation and guided relaxation. No prior knowledge of yoga is needed, and you are welcome to adjust any positions to suit your unique needs. 

Materials List

Please bring a yoga mat, blocks and a blanket if required, and a full bottle of drinking water. (yoga mats and blocks are also available to borrow from the Centre, but please be sure to clean them after use with the disinfectant provided to maintain COVID safety). **NOTE: all adult classes are for ages 18+ only, unless otherwise specified

Tutor: Gemma Perry

Gemma Perry is a yoga and meditation teacher, who has been practicing and studying yoga for over 10 years. Currently undertaking a PhD in the psychology of sound meditation, her interests are primarily in how chanting can decrease psychological and physiological stress, increase social connection, and ultimately expand states of awareness. Gemma weaves science and philosophy into her yoga classes with a passion for sharing the art and science of ancient yoga techniques in a way that is accessible to the modern lifestyle.
