Free Support for Unpaid Carers - Free Community Talk

Putting Carers First!

Do you look after a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness or who is frail due to age? Do your caring responsibilities affect your wellbeing or your ability to work, study or socialise?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Carer Gateway can help you.

The services provided by Carer Gateway are free and available to all carers including:

·       People providing unpaid care for older people;

·       People with chronic illness;

·       People with disability; and

·       People living with mental illness.

Katie Buddle from Your Side will be hosting a presentation and information session on how unpaid carers can access free supports designed to help them in their caring role. Participants will learn what services are available through the Carer Gateway and how to access them, and how to prioritise their own health, wellbeing, and self-care while under pressure. Carers can be referred directly from the workshop on the day or will walk away with the tools to refer themselves and their loved ones to the Carer Gateway. Participants will also leave with a goodie bag containing more information and resources, as well as a small gift to promote their self-care and relaxation.

Research shows that helping carers manage their daily challenges can make a big difference to a carer’s life and improve their overall health and wellbeing. This session is all about recognizing that you are deserving of care as well those you help support – so let us step in and help with those daily challenges!
