Homebrewing

Ever wanted to offer a beer to friends that you have made yourself? Learn the basics of homebrewing.....the techniques, equipment, and ingredients needed to complete a partial mash brew. The first week's session will go through the process up to fermentation, and during the second session we will package the beer to take home.

We are thrilled that Flat Rock Brewery is a regular stall holder at the Northside Produce Market with their delicious tasting brews. See the markets page on our website for more details.

Tutor: Karl Riseborough

Owners of Flat Rock Brew Cafe, Karl and Jenny have been local residents of the area for a long time. Karl has been home brewing for many years and has now established his micro-brewery in the Flat Rock Brew Cafe in Naremburn. Outside of the brewery, Jenny manages the day to day running of the cafe being the organised one of the two!   The Flat Rock Brew Cafe is home to a working 'nano-brewery' and a member of the Craft Beer Industry Association. The brewhouse itself consists of a Braumeister system, one very familiar to home brewers. German made, it provides efficiency in the brewing process and was selected for its compact design. For those who want to really explore the world of beer, we offer unique beer tasting events and brewery tours. Something that is important to us is supporting the local community and since opening, we have been involved in many fund raising events for a number of local schools and businesses. We have also become the venue of choice for community meetings from sporting clubs to pre-schools.
