Calling volunteers! Join us for afternoon tea and a big dose of community spirit as we work with Zonta International, to assemble 600 birthing kits.
Every day thousands of mothers give birth without the basics to provide a hygienic environment. These simple birthing kits provide materials to help reduce the incidence of infant and maternal mortality. We have 600 kits to pack.
As well as our normal hygiene for packing kits, the Covid safe plan requires:
The allocated venue (Moreton & Bay Room) has a high ceiling and windows and doors which can be opened for ventilation.
Numbers are limited. Registration required.
Please note that because hygienic procedures need to be followed there are no young children under 12 allowed and there is no babysitting facility.
You will be notified if there are any changes to the event.
Donations welcome (each birthing kit costs $5). Zonta’s sole aim is to serve and advocate for women everywhere.
Since partnering with Zonta International, North Sydney Community Centre has hosted afternoons with over 200 volunteers to pack 2400 birthing kits, join us to pack another 600 and bring the total to 3000!

Empowering Women Through Service and Advocacy Zonta International is a leading global organisation of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence. With our partner North Sydney Community Centre, Zonta runs two events during the year, a Breast Cushion Working Bee Sip and Stuff Day and a Birthing Kits assembly day. The birthing kit assembly day is an ongoing commitment to production of this very necessary life saving package. The birthing kits provide women in developing countries with a cleaner delivery environment, and are supported by the Birthing Kit Foundation of Australia.
