Music And Movement - 3 - 4yrs

Bridges to music is North Sydney’s first music and movement class for preschool/kindergarten age children.

We have 3 different classes for 3 different age groups that will cater specifically to their needs, with a pathway that develops their skills and begins to prepare them for big school and also introduces them to music.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents must first register their interest with Bridges to Music and discuss the enrolment. See website for details. Please do not book into this class until your place is confirmed via Bridges to Music.

Classes for 3 to 4 year old’s

Whether your child began in the youngest class and is moving up or is looking to begin their journey, in this 45-minute class, the children begin working more independently, start developing their creativity and expand on their expression of rhythms.

The children play and learn with instruments at the beginning and end of the class. Instruments such as tuned percussion begin to be integrated into the lesson as the children start developing means to express their creativity.

The children are accompanied by an adult in the movement segments, only if they are needed. This allows the children to hear and think for themselves, once they are confident enough to do so. The children always love this part of the lesson.

The structure of the lesson involves a combination of singing lessons, action songs, body percussions, rhythmic movement with piano or instrumental accompaniment and dramatisation of songs. The children begin to recognise many of the elements of music through response to what they hear (adults with perfect pitch commonly begin their music training in preschool). Parents are often delighted to see how quickly the children tune in to what is happening in the music. It is a good example of how children benefit from working independently.
