We welcome Alistair, Amanda and Lotte Hyde Page and their Brother Mountains Macadamias to Northside Produce Market. The Brother Mountain region of New South Wales was created by ancient volcanic activity, that formed three mountains known as North Brother, Middle Brother and South Brother. These natural formations support a unique micro-climate made up of pristine aquifer-fed rivers, rich red soils and ancient sub-tropical rainforests creating the perfect environment for growing their wholesome, ever so creamy and crunchy macadamias. At the time of this newsletter, Alistair's Dad is fighting fires on the property near John's River. Our thoughts are with everybody who has been affected by bushfires and we wish for the safety and relief soon.
This Saturday Jacqueline and Frank Loughray bring their self-designed and hand crafted pieces of bespoke wooden kitchen, home and outdoor wares that make up Fox Whistle. All made from sustainably sourced timber such as Australian Blackbutt, Huon Pine and recycled woods, these products are of the highest quality and workmanship and are sure to last from generation to generation. Their beautiful serving and cutting boards can be made even more special by having them carved and engraved as personalised gifts.
Jody Vassallo’s drought fundraiser ‘Farmer – recipes and stories from the land’ is on sale at their stall by the fountain. Due to sell out success, this is the 2nd print run (and perhaps final run) of the cookbook for $30 where $24 from each sale goes directly to farmers in need across Australia thanks to the Country Womens Association. A big thank you to the photographers, stylists, writers editors, chefs farmers and all involved who donated their time for this worthy cause.
We are also supporting the drought relief and bushfire victims with our free Cookbook Nook Clearance at our Info stall on the path that cuts through the park. Perfect timing to find a fresh batch of recipes for the festive season, a Kris Kringle present or two and you may find that cookbook you have always wanted. All donation money raised goes to the drought relief charity Rural Aid / Buy a Bale and The Salvation Army whose Emergency Services teams are responding to the devastating bushfires.
It’s our final, free Check In & Tune Up for this year in the carpark area of the market. Thomas, The Rolling Fix bike mechanic checks your bicycle from the brakes to the bell, tuning it up to make your riding experience safe and comfortable. We thank North Sydney Council for supporting this terrific service.
Drop by the Lendlease stall to find out more about the over station development of the Victoria Cross Station development in North Sydney and how to have your say about it. You will find the stall on the roadside of the north end of Miller Street.
