On the Maria River in the beautiful Mid North Coast of New South Wales, is a little family farm with an old dairy on it. Brandon Santi’s family moved there over 100 years ago.
‘Maria River Distillery started about 4 years ago when I wanted to see if I could make Limoncello. We’d just comeback from holidays on the Amalfi coast and I was fascinated with the way the Italians made Limoncello in big 10L jars.
After a few attempts I managed to make reasonable Limoncello. So I decided to have a go at making Gin. 3 years later, a hobby got completely out of control. It took over my life !!!
Not satisfied with just making Gin, I decided to grow the botanicals as well. Planting Juniper, Coriander, Cardamon, Finger limes and Gum trees etc at the farm. After years of testing different botanical mixes I’ve settled on a very Australian styled Gin. One with a finger lime citrus twist and Strawberry Gum finish.
Based on the tradition of old school spirit making, everything is made onsite, in small batch production. Locally farmed, responsibly sourced\ and sustainably distilled.’
With the need for hand sanitiser during this Covid-19 crisis, MRD are now also making this vital product at the distillery.
