Northside Produce Market - Saturday November 20

It brings a smile to our faces as we welcome back The Vege Box, Wholefood & Spice, Wentworth Pottery, Untrashy and The Reflexology stall. Now Northside Produce Market is whole again in time for the festive season.

Seasonal stallholder David Dawes from Owl Farm Braidwood returns to the market with his organically grown, new season garlic. We’re hoping that the rain and wind forecast for Braidwood at the end of the week, will ease up enough for David to be able to pick all his varieties of lettuces.

The Vege Box has been much missed and Shane Roberts has for his first market back with us since we reopened, an array of very tasty heirloom Tomatoes, various varieties of Zucchinis and Eggplant and Purple, White and Green Asparagus plus many of his regular lines of exceptional fresh produce.

With Christmas less than 6 weeks away, local resident Bruce Gibson is attending this market and the following two with his adorable, wooden reindeers. Each year, many market patrons will add a reindeer to their collection, so Bruce now carves into each reindeer, the year it was made from local fallen tree limbs.

Great timing for Wentworth Pottery to rejoin the market. Steven Sheridan’s beautiful and functional ceramic ware makes for wonderful Christmas presents. Untrashy’s sustainable, eco-friendly and reusable alternatives to single use plastic such as double insulated Keep Cups make for practical gifts.

There’ll be happier feet walking around the market this Saturday as The Reflexology stall is back. I love seeing how relaxed our patrons our when receiving a treatment from Bernie and Cassie up on the park slope in front of the library mural.

Make the most of this Nov 20 and Dec 4 markets to pre-order your festive fare. With the NSW Covid-19 restrictions that are in place, face masks need to be worn whilst shopping at the market this Saturday morning. Being deemed critical retail, unvaccinated people can attend the market.

It seems to me that after the year that we have had, the spirit of Christmas is being embraced earlier this year. The lampposts in Ted Mack Civic park are adorned with Chrissy decorations and I look forward to everyone experiencing the market’s great sense of community as we gear up for the festive season.

Cheers Lisa.
