It’s our Easter Northside Produce Market and how wonderful to have a rain free, long weekend. Thank you to everyone who has been attending the market in the wet weather conditions or when threatening to be so. Many of our farmers have been struggling to grow and harvest produce and plant for the future. Your support is very much needed and appreciated.
Never have we seen such a variety of Hot Cross buns at the market. From the traditional to Nonie Food and From Silvia’s gluten free buns, Sonoma’s Not Cross buns and Flour and Stone’s Pandiramerino - a Florentine version and there are more.
The Italian influence continues at Flour and Stone with their Easter tart from Naples. Made with Amedie Chocolate, cocoa nibs, sour cherries and candied orange peel amidst ricotta and finished with candied clementines and paper-thin slices of cedro.
Exit the egg, retire the rabbit, hail the Hyggeleig Easter Chocolate pot. Bean-to-Bar aficionado and chocolate maker Robert Csano has limited editions of fresh Bolivian and Guatemalan chocolate. The beans sourced through ‘Transparent Trade’ create farmer prosperity and better cacao. Guilt free chocolate that tastes so good!
As the temperature lowers, boost your immune system with the market’s offerings of citrus, pomegranates, passionfruit, papaya, plums, figs, grapes, pears, apples and papples. Yes, the sweet and crunchy, apple looking pear is in season at the Banana Bar stall.
A long weekend gives more time to enjoy cooking. Make the most of Autumn pumpkins, sweet potatoes, potatoes, corn, baby broccoli, mushrooms, leeks, cabbages, Swiss chard, kale, kohl rabi and Moonacre Farm's award winning rhubarb.
It’s school holidays and our free ‘Kids Only – Behind the Scenes’ 8am and 9.30am tours are taking place. These 1 hour in depth tours led by Tawnya Bahr, are fun and informative and bookings are required. We thank North Sydney Council for funding these tours..
Our free Kids Easter Treasure Hunt is back. See kids hopping around the market as they collect answers to clues from stallholders to receive their Easter treat. The hunt begins at our Info stall and finishes 30 minutes before the market closes at midday.
I look forward to this Easter market and all it’s bounty and soaking in the atmosphere of the long weekend. See you there!
