Northside Produce Market - Saturday June 4

Winter is here! It’s officially soup season and there’s plenty of fresh, seasonal produce to make winter warmers. Stock up on garlic, ginger, citrus and honey to keep the Winter lurgies at bay. For a night off from cooking, pick up any one of the stallholders' easy, simple and delicious heat ’n’ serves.

The chilly weather brings Brilliant Food’s steamy ‘n’ creamy Seafood Chowder to the market. We boast it’s the best Chowder around. Have your BYO cup filled for a mouth-watering and tummy warming breakfast, brunch or lunch. Take out tubs available too of course.

It's a great time of year to be growing your own Oyster mushrooms. Who better to get a growing kit and knowledge from, than from mushroom growing experts Margin’s Mushrooms. It only takes 12-14 days to get your first flush and if you look after your mushroom block, you can get 3-4 flushes.

Speaking of stocking up on citrus, Maria River Distillery’s Mandarincello has become so popular that Brandon is having to source mandarins from far and wide and for as long as possible, to keep up with the demand.

Fig alert! Figlicious have had a late flush of fruit. Gebran tells us that "when the fig trees know they are going into their dormant season, they often will have one last push to flush out as much fruit as possible, so to speak!" Grebran may even have Baida figs as well as the Black Genoa.

The NSW Government’s Single-use Plastics Ban is now in place. As of this Saturday, lightweight single-use plastic bags are no longer supplied at the market. If you forget your shopping bags, pick up free, reusable material bags from The Bag Depot at our Info stall.

We’re celebrating World Environment Day with 3 free Sustainable Art workshops at this market. The Bowerbird Herd will show you how to make beautiful art works from your waste and recyclable material from home. Bookings essential and waitlist yourself if you miss out, as you just never know.

It’s the Climate for Change and our North Sydney Community Centre is holding a Climate Conversation at 11.30am on Saturday to help you implement practical actions to help our environment. Book here and we’ll see you there after you’ve done your market shop.
