North Sydney Community Centre

After School Care Coordinator

Position Description

About the program

North Sydney Community Centre welcomes up to 105 7-12 year olds, predominantly from North Sydney Demonstration School every afternoon. We are an independent Not For Profit Incorporated Association. The ASC program was established 45 years ago and for many years was known as The Leisure Centre. The program has a strong reputation in the community.

Afternoon activities include arts & craft, sport, singing and dancing, cooking, gardening and homework club. We hold an annual Welcome BBQ for parents, we farewell our Year 6 students with a Pizza and Movie Night. We hold an Annual Open Day to showcase all the Centre activities – from the Explorers Playgroup for Under 5s, to After School Care, the Adult Classes and Workshops, and the twice-monthly Northside Produce Market. It is a true community centre with activities every day and evening. This role is not just After School Care: you are stepping into a broader community with fun, collaborative, welcoming, professional and supportive staff.

About the role

We’re looking for a Coordinator with leadership experience who brings a range of skills and depth of knowledge to continue the management, administration and programming of our dynamic ASC Program.

The successful applicant will have a solid understanding of NQF and NQS and have practical experience running a Centre and a team of permanent and casual staff, and enjoy liaising with parents, school community and industry colleagues and networks. You will excel at creating a welcoming environment and a positive workplace. You will be supported by, and report to, the Centre Director and the Committee of Management. You will be required to attend monthly management meetings in the evening.
