About Us
North Sydney Community Centre offers over 100 courses and workshops each term, connecting people through learning, creativity and wellbeing. Our language program is popular among students preparing for travel, wanting to connect with culture, or simply looking for a social and stimulating learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Italian language classes across various levels (Beginners to Advanced)
- Design and implement lesson plans that are practical, conversational, and culturally relevant
- Use a range of engaging teaching methods, including digital resources, group activities, and multimedia tools
- Adapt lessons to the needs, pace and progress of students
- Encourage student participation and foster a fun and inclusive environment
- Monitor and support individual learning progress throughout the term
About You
- Fluent in Italian, with clear communication in English
- Experience teaching Italian to adults (in a classroom or online)
- Comfortable teaching a range of levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students
- Friendly, professional, and adaptable to different student needs and teaching styles
- Confident using a variety of learning resources and tools
Desirable Skills
- Formal qualifications in teaching or language instruction
- Experience teaching in a community or adult education setting
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms or blended learning methods
Preferred Availability (Term 3 & 4, 2025)
Our current schedule includes the following sessions, and we are ideally looking for a tutor who can take on several or all of them:
- Monday – Beginners: 6.30pm – 8.30pm & Intermediate Next Step: 10.30am – 12.30pm
- Tuesday – Advanced: 10.30am – 12.30pm & Beginners Next Step: 1pm – 3pm
- Wednesday – Beginners Next Step: 6.30pm – 8.30pm
- Friday – Intermediate: 10.30am – 12.30pm
We are open to adjusting this schedule for the right candidate.
