A Feast of Watercolours - Extended Workshop

Course Overview

Take your watercolour skills further in this immersive two-day workshop with Richard Byrnes.

Across six projects, you will complete a series of resolved paintings, including:

  • Still life

  • Two landscapes

  • Cityscape

  • Portrait

  • Animal study

With Richard’s expert guidance, you will explore colour mixing, drawing, brush selection, and paint application techniques to create vibrant and fluid artworks.

Each project is designed to provide practical tips and inspiration, whether you are new to watercolour or looking to refine your practice.

This extended version of Richard’s original Feast of Watercolours workshop offers a more intensive and rewarding experience - an ideal way to expand your watercolour repertoire.

Workshop dates are Sunday 15 & 22 March, 10am - 2pm

What to bring:
  • Watercolours (tray format)

  • Watercolour pencils and paints

  • Watercolour or cartridge paper (150gsm or heavier)

  • HB pencils

  • Watercolour brushes (standard sizes)

About the tutor

Richard Byrnes

Richard is a practising artist, having held 23 solo and over 100 group exhibitions in Australia and overseas. Having extensive teaching experience to draw upon, he is committed to teaching sound drawing and sculpture techniques in ways that are clear and accessible. His core belief is that art should be exciting and joyous. Richards works are included in the National Gallery, University of NSW, Artbank, Macquarie University and various regional gallery collections. His public sculpture commissions can be seen in North Sydney, Marrickville and Macquarie University. He is represented by the Robin Gibson Gallery in Sydney.
