Free Teen Woodwork Workshop: Make Your Own Chopsticks (16-18 year olds)

Get hands-on with woodworking in this half-day workshop designed for teens aged 16–18.

Learn basic hand tool skills while creating your very own set of chopsticks-functional, beautiful, and totally your own. This session is a fun way to build confidence with tools and explore your creativity before moving on to bigger projects.

What you’ll learn

  • How to safely use a small block plane to shape hardwood into chopsticks

  • Sanding, scraping, and burnishing techniques for a smooth, polished finish

  • Applying food-safe oils to finish your work for everyday use

What you’ll make

  • As many pairs of chopsticks as you can craft in 2.5 hours

Tools and materials

  • All timber and jigs are provided

  • Just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity

Clothing and safety

  • No loose sleeves

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes

Who this workshop is for

  • Teens with little or no woodworking experience
