German Tutor

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated German Tutor to teach beginner students and help them build a strong foundation in the German language. As a German Tutor, you will focus on introducing students to the basics of the language, including essential vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and conversational skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about language teaching and committed to creating a supportive, fun and engaging environment for beginners.

North Sydney Community Centre offers over 100 classes and workshops per term, to connect people and energise the mind and body.

Our student body is diverse. Languages currently offered are Italian, Spanish, French and Greek. We would offer more, but we have effectively run out of teaching rooms! Many students have joined the language programme in preparation for a holiday, only to return and continue through the entire programme to Advanced Conversation classes!

Learning a language is valuable for travelling or speaking, but also for the rewards of social connection and challenging our brains!

Responsibilities

• Provide beginner-level German language instruction to students who are new to the language
• Create engaging and interactive lesson plans that focus on foundational language skills, such as vocabulary, simple sentence structures, greetings, numbers, and basic grammar
• Encourage conversation practice and help students build confidence in speaking German in everyday situations
• Tailor lessons to students’ specific needs, learning styles, and progress
• Track and assess students’ progress, adjusting teaching methods to ensure they grasp key concepts
• Use a variety of teaching resources, including online tools, audio, and visual aids, to make lessons dynamic and engaging
• Offer constructive feedback and create a positive, motivating learning atmosphere

About you

We are looking for a community minded, patient and enthusiastic teacher, who enjoys working with a diverse range of people, to facilitate access to this beautiful language and the joy of learning, reading, understanding and speaking German in a group setting.

Desirable Skills

• Experience teaching German to beginners, either in-person or online
• Knowledge of beginner-focused language learning tools and techniques
• Familiarity with digital teaching platforms and online tutoring tools

Your Availability

We are looking for a German tutor who is available on Wednesday (1 to 3 pm), Thursday (10:30 am to 12:30 pm and/or 1 to 3 pm), or Saturday (10:30 am to 12:30 pm).
