We partner with local high schools and youth programs — including the Duke of Edinburgh Award — to provide meaningful volunteering opportunities for young people. We’re now seeking a dedicated volunteer to help coordinate and support this growing group of youth volunteers.
About the Role
The Youth Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer Position) will oversee the onboarding, supervision, and engagement of our high‑school‑aged volunteers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, is organised, and is passionate about helping teens build confidence, skills, and community connection.
You’ll be the key point of contact for students, schools, and Centre staff, ensuring that youth volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and set up for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of high‑school volunteers
- Liaise with schools, Duke of Edinburgh coordinators, and youth programs
- Maintain volunteer schedules, attendance, and required documentation
- Provide guidance, supervision, and encouragement to young volunteers
- Ensure volunteers understand their roles and feel safe and supported
- Help match volunteers to suitable tasks across the Centre
- Assist with sign‑offs, progress reports, and program requirements
- Promote a positive, inclusive, youth‑friendly volunteer culture
What We’re Looking For
- Warm, patient, and supportive communication style
- Enjoys working with teenagers and understands their needs
- Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Reliability and a commitment to youth development
- Experience with young people (teaching, coaching, mentoring, youth work, parenting) is helpful but not essential
- A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
What You’ll Gain
- A rewarding role supporting young people in their personal development
- Experience in youth engagement and volunteer coordination
- Training and ongoing support from Centre staff
- A chance to contribute to a welcoming, community‑focused environment
- The satisfaction of helping teens build skills, confidence, and community connection
