Privacy & Policy Information

Voluntary Alignment with the Privacy Act

North Sydney Community Centre (NSSC) is a not-for-profit organisation with an annual turnover below the threshold for mandatory compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). However, we voluntarily uphold the principles of the Act and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) to ensure transparency, respect, and protection of personal information. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of all individuals who engage with our services.

Privacy Policy

NSCC respects your privacy. Information provided by individuals to NSSC is for the purpose of facilitating access to and participation in Playgroup, After School Care, adult classes, workshops, events, venue hire and other services and opportunities made available by the Centre.

Child Safety Policy

NSSC is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable people. All staff and volunteers are trained under the ChildSafe Australia – Keeping Children and Vulnerable People Safe program. Information we collect

We only collect information from you required for the services we provide. We explain why we collect the information and what we use it for. Information collected can include:

  • Your name and contact details
  • Your child’s name and age
  • Your emergency contact: name and phone number
  • Computer Information

You can browse our website without disclosing personal information. Our service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information, for statistical purposes, for each page accessed the:

  • IP (Internet Protocol) address of the machine which has accessed it
  • Top-level of your domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc.)
  • Address of your server
  • Date and time of your visit to the site
  • Pages accessed and documents downloaded
  • Previous site visited
  • Type of browser and operating system you have used

No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider’s logs.

Navigation Data

Browsing any website – including the NSSC website – generates a trail of pages visited and the time apparently spent displaying each page.

User Feedback

We seek feedback from our users in order to improve the service offered by the site. Answering feedback questions is voluntary and does not in any way affect your access to the North Sydney Community Centre website. Feedback should be made via the Feedback page.

Users may provide personal details for the purpose of receiving a reply to their feedback. This information will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided. We will not add your email address or name to any mailing list.

The NSSC may publish aggregated information about feedback on the websites, to the extent that it does not identify or cannot be used to identify individual users.

Date Storage & Disclosure

Information collected is stored in an appropriately secure format.

The data is used by the NSCC website software, and by staff involved in the NSCC operations, only for:

  • Website and system administration, including monitoring to prevent security breaches
  • Customisation of the website to meet user needs
  • Evaluation, research and development
  • Email Newsletter

The NSSC uses its email newsletters to share information about courses, workshops, events and other activities at the community centre. Students may at any time request that all such marketing cease. All requests will be complied with promptly.

Your details will only be known to the NSCC staff and will be disclosed to a third party only in circumstances in which such disclosure is legally authorised, such as in the investigation of a criminal offence and in compliance with a search warrant or subpoena.

E-Commerce Website

Customer service is fundamental to our business. Customer details and delivery addresses are collected for the purposes of supplying services to customers. The NSSC e-commerce website protects your credit card details. This ensures that your credit card details are seen only by yourself and the bank performing the transactions. No credit card details are captured or stored by the NSSC e-commerce site.

Secondary Marketing

NSSC does not allow for the use of your information for any secondary marketing not related to the Centre.

Complaints regarding privacy should first be directed to the Director of the NSCC (details below).
