Drawing Animals
Capturing the likeness, character and movement of animals is a unique and rewarding artistic challenge.
In this fun, one-day workshop, participants will explore the key techniques for drawing animals, with a focus on proportion, form, texture and movement. Through practical guidance and demonstrations, you’ll learn how to observe your subject more closely and create drawings that convey both its physical characteristics and individual personality.
Tutor Richard Byrnes has drawn and sculpted animals throughout his artistic practice for many years. He will share his experience and insights, helping participants develop the skills and confidence to capture the dynamic qualities of animals in their drawings.
Suitable for beginners and those wishing to develop their drawing skills. Everybody is welcome and no previous experience required.

Richard Byrnes
Richard is a practising artist, having held 23 solo and over 100 group exhibitions in Australia and overseas. Having extensive teaching experience to draw upon, he is committed to teaching sound drawing and sculpture techniques in ways that are clear and accessible. His core belief is that art should be exciting and joyous. Richards works are included in the National Gallery, University of NSW, Artbank, Macquarie University and various regional gallery collections. His public sculpture commissions can be seen in North Sydney, Marrickville and Macquarie University. He is represented by the Robin Gibson Gallery in Sydney.
