German Beginners
Course Overview
This course is perfect for those with little or no prior knowledge!
At this early stage of the learning process, the correct pronunciation of German words is a strong focus of the teaching in addition to some basic grammar. You will start with essential vocabulary, pronunciation and simple grammar.
By the end of the course, you will confidently introduce yourself, order food, navigate public transport, and engage in basic conversations - all while gaining insights into German culture.
Students will also be asked to read and understand simple poems and recite them in class.
Course Breakdown
Week 1: Pronunciation of German words /the Umlauts/simple phrases in German
Week 2: Numbers/how to count in German/read a restaurant bill/timetable
Week 3: Days of the week/months/introducing oneself
Week 4: Verbs to be & to have/role play restaurant/guest & waiter
Week 5: Visit to the doctor/make appointment/ where’s the pain?
Week 6: Asking for directions/where is the train station?/buying tickets
Week 7: The gender of nouns/endings of adjectives
Week 8: Reading and reciting a poem/summary of course
