This workshop is an engaging introduction to China, designed to help participants travel with confidence and cultural awareness.
Explore one of the world’s oldest continuous civilisations, discovering its historical landmarks, diverse regional cultures and modern urban innovations.
Participants will gain practical knowledge of travel logistics, including visas, transportation, digital payment systems, internet access and safety considerations. This workshop also covers essential cultural etiquette and strategies for navigating airports, trains, hotels and restaurants, as well as tips for using translation apps and mobile payment tools commonly used in China.
A key focus of this workshop is essential Mandarin phrases. Students will practice greetings, ordering food, asking for directions, shopping and handling emergencies through interactive exercises that build both confidence and retention.
By the end of the session, students will have a foundational understanding of China’s culture, practical travel strategies and basic Mandarin skills for everyday travel situations.
Each participant leaves with a concise travel guide including cultural insights, checklists, essential phrases with phonetics and recommended digital resources to support their journey.

Shelly was born in China and has extensively travelled in China before she went to study overseas.
She lived in Italy for a few years and then moved to Australia. Shelly has travelled over sixty countries but three trips back to China last year rekindled her passion for travelling in China.
She is very excited about the fast speed train network in China which makes travel in China incredibly convenient.
Shelly loves to share her love for the Chinese culture, delicious food, the beauty of the Chinese language.
