Our Staff

Michelle Worthley – Director

Originally from Canada, Michelle completed an honours degree in Parks & Recreation Administration. After 11 years of sailing the high seas as a Cruise Director, Michelle married an Aussie and moved to Sydney. Working in Shore Operations she fell in love with NSCC while attending Playgroup. In 2014 Michelle joined the NSCC team and became Centre Director in 2020. Organising programs that people enjoy, and connecting the community through the Centre’s services are the passions that drive Michelle.

Michelle Nixon – Assistant to Director

Michelle discovered NSCC in 1997, having moved from Queensland with her husband and toddler. She found contact, connection and long-time friendships through Playgroup and volunteering gave her purpose.  Working at NSCC gives her confidence, friendships and an abundance of people to talk to and fulfils her need to belong. Michelle supports the staff, volunteers and all who visit the Centre.

Anna Gray – Programme & Events Coordinator

Anna joined NSCC in 2019. Having just moved back to Sydney from Melbourne and Tasmania, the Centre quickly became a source of friendships and ALL the fitness classes (and a few unexpected work challenges with COVID and whatnot). Anna loves supporting the tutors to do what they do best - teach! She lives in constant admiration of their talents and commitment, the wonderful variety of things that can be learned, and of the curious, life-long learners who come to the Centre to explore new skills and challenges and find community with us.

Rosalynde Gray – Administrative Assistant & Venue Hire Coordinator

Rosalynde was roped into joining NSCC in 2020 by her big sister Anna (Programme and Events Coordinator). Ros loves talking to and getting to know all the great people that makes NSCC the place it is! When Ros is not at the Centre, she is at home either shopping online, reading, watching Netflix and hanging out with her beautiful black Labrador Missy (named after the Master in Doctor Who).

Lisa MacDonald – Northside Produce Market Coordinator

Whilst spending 6 years at North Sydney Girls High School, Lisa didn't contemplate working in North Sydney and almost 4 decades later, Lisa joined NSCC in 2013. ‘Everytime I step outside the Centre at lunchtime and walk through Ted Mack Civic park to the cafes around the corner of Miller and Ridge Street, I have the sensation of time slowing down. There is little traffic, as the main roads direct it away from the area, and combined with the older architecture, the church buildings, St Leonards oval and no hustle and bustle, there is a gentle energy and a village like atmosphere which I always enjoy'.

Sheila Campos – Marketing Coordinator

Originally from Brazil, Sheila has spent 15 years working in the Marketing and strategy sector, Sheila decided a move to Australia to complete further studies and expand her career experience. An opportunity presented to join the team at NSCC which has enabled her to invest her years of experience into the Centre's success. With similar passions she has been able to support NSCC in providing successful strategic marketing through multiple communication channels.

Gus Gomez – After School Care Coordinator

Born and raised in Venezuela, Gus lived in Canada in 2014 before coming to Australia in June of 2015. An experience of nearly 10 years in a transnational corporation in the Human Resources department and a Bachelor degree in Education, gave Gus the skills and knowledge to be part of the Child Services field in Australia, where he has performed different roles in the last 5 years. Being a positive part in children’s development, supporting families and team are the main motivation for Gus at NSCC. As a sports fan, Gus spends time representing his community in baseball and soccer teams here in Sydney.

Gill Alborough – Playgroup Coordinator

Gill feels it is a privilege to be part of the Explorers Playgroup team. She is passionate about living life to the fullest. Gill enjoys being reminded by our little Explorers to delight in the joy of having fun in every day play.
