Mending, Upcycling & Embroidery Workshop
Course Overview
Stitch It, Do Not Ditch It! Mending, Upcycling & Embroidery Workshop
Grab a needle and thread and discover the joy of mending, repairing and embellishing your favourite clothes!
This hands-on workshop is perfect for complete beginners, or anyone who already sews and would like some inspiration and guidance on creative mending and embroidery.
Learn simple techniques to extend the life of your clothes and accessories, while adding your own personal touch through decorative embroidery.
Mending and upcycling are also simple and practical ways to make more sustainable choices. By repairing, reusing and reimagining garments you already own, you can help reduce textile waste, lower the environmental footprint of clothing, and give well-loved pieces a longer life instead of replacing them.
Techniques Covered
- Sewing on buttons
- Hand-stitching a simple hem
- Repairing small holes using visible mending
- Basic embroidery stitches for decorative repair

- Creative approaches to upcycling and repurposing garments
You’ll have the opportunity to practise the techniques on fabric samples, or bring along a garment that needs some love and work on it during the class.
