Strengthen, Stretch & Shine: Mat Pilates Course
Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout designed to improve core strength, flexibility, and posture while promoting a sense of calm and well-being.
Pilates focuses on precise, controlled movements, and is suitable for all fitness levels, offering modifications to challenge or support participants based on their individual needs.
During this course, students engage in a series of Pilates exercises that target the core, enhance flexibility, and improve overall body alignment and strength. Each session incorporates dynamic stretching, breathing, and controlled movement to create a balanced and restorative experience, as well as explore ways to improve balance and stability through functional movements.
By the end of the course, students will have improved their core strength, flexibility, and body awareness. This course not only supports physical health but also promotes mental clarity and relaxation.
Course Breakdown
Week 1: Foundations of Pilates
Introduction to Pilates principles, focusing on core engagement, breathing techniques, and proper alignment. Students learn foundational movements to build a strong base for the course.
Week 2: Building Core Strength
- Core-focused exercises to strengthen the abdominals, back, and pelvic floor.
- Emphasis on controlled movements and maintaining stability during transitions.
Week 3: Improving Flexibility and Posture
Dynamic stretching and exercises designed to enhance flexibility and correct posture, targeting common areas of tension like the shoulders, hips, and spine.
Week 4: Enhancing Balance and Stability
Functional movements and balance-focused exercises to improve coordination, stability, and control, with modifications to suit individual abilities.
Week 5: Full-Body Integration
Combining upper and lower body exercises for a full-body workout, emphasizing smooth transitions and precision in movement.
Week 6: Increasing Strength and Endurance
Challenging the body with longer sequences and higher repetitions to build endurance and overall strength while maintaining proper form.
Week 7: Full-Body Flow and Final Challenge
- A dynamic, full-body session integrating all skills developed over the course.
- Students practice more complex sequences to enhance strength, control, and flexibility.
Mat Pilates Dates
Term 1 runs from Friday 21 February to Friday 4 April 2025
Term 2 runs from Friday 2 May to Friday 27 June
Term 3 runs from Friday 25 July to Friday 19 September
Term 4 runs from Friday 17 October to Friday 19 December (Please note no class on Friday 5 December)

About the tutor
Raquel Genioli
Raquel is a dedicated fitness and wellness professional with over eight years of experience in the industry. She takes a holistic and integrative approach to health and believes that a balanced lifestyle is key to achieving optimal physical and mental well-being.
She holds certifications as a Personal Trainer, Mat Pilates Instructor, and Breathwork Coach, as well as a Sound Healing Instructor. Raquel offers a variety of classes, including Strength, Circuit, Functional Exercise, Mobility, Stretch, Breathwork, and Sound Healing, and provides personalized one-on-one sessions tailored to her clients’ needs.
Originally from Brazil, Raquel holds a degree in Communication. She brings a dynamic and engaging approach to her teaching and has both experience and a strong interest in working with women in perimenopause and menopause, as well as older adults and seniors.
In addition to her regular classes, Raquel frequently runs workshops, offering in-depth explorations of practices such as breathwork and sound healing. Her teaching style emphasizes inclusivity, allowing participants to feel supported and empowered as they work toward their wellness goals.
