Italian Advanced (B2)

Course Overview

Designed for students with a minimum 3 - 4 years of Italian tuition who wish to engage in active conversation and gain a deeper understanding of the language and culture. 

You are fluent using all tenses and a vast vocabulary. You are generally confident in using your Italian language skills and seeking the opportunity to practise and keep improving. Grammar still has some more secrets to reveal to you and the audio-visual resources used in class will help consolidate its concepts and bring you closer to Italy. This class is held entirely in Italian.

Course content: Unit 9 Italia da scoprire

Week 1: Revision lesson focused on conversation

Week 2: Travelling in Italy: your experience in the different regions and focus on Le Marche

Week 3: Revision of subjunctive for indirect question sentences

Week 4: Different regions, different traditions and history

Week 5: Class project: present your favourite region with personal experiences

Week 6: Indirect speech

Week 7: Stereotypes of Italian regions. Discussing the movie Benvenuti al sud

Week 8: Quiz and a fun game

This outline provides an overview of what may be covered during the course; however, changes may occur based on various factors and the needs of the class.

Course outcomes

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the differences in culture and language of Italian regions
  • Talk about your favourite regions and travel experiences
  • Comment on Italian and Australian stereotypes.
  • Use the indirect speech correctly
  • Present a research project
  • Use everyday colloquialisms

  • Recommended book "Nuovo Espresso 3" textbook/workbook” (abbeys.com.au or amazon.com)
2026 Term Dates 

Term 1 runs from Tuesday 3 February to Wednesday 25 March (depending on which class you attend) 

Term 2 runs from Tuesday 21 April to Wednesday 10 June (depending on which class you attend) 

Term 3 runs from Tuesday 21 July  to Wednesday 9 September (depending on which class you attend) 

Term 4 runs from Tuesday 13 October to Wednesday 2 December (depending on which class you attend) 

Parking Discount for Students

 Students who participate in this course will receive a 50% discount at Ridge Street Car Park. Simply speak to our team when you visit the Centre, and we’ll register your plate number in our system (please note you’ll need to register your plate each time you attend the course). This discount applies to courses held at the Centre during office hours (Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm).

Elena De Felice

Elena was born and bred in Milan, speaks 5 languages fluently and has a Degree in Interpreting and an honours degree in Foreign Languages and Literature from Milan University.

Languages and communication have been her passion from a very young age.  

She has been teaching for over 20 years with great passion and is running yearly Tours to Italy to help students of all levels improve their Italian and discover Italian culture and lifestyle.
