Italian Beginners Level 1 (Wednesday) (Wednesday)

Course Overview

This fun and practical course is perfect for those with no prior knowledge of Italian or those who know just a few words.

You will earn how to communicate in everyday situations through interactive activities that build your confidence and introduce you to the rich culture of Italy.

Each week will focus on essential grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation to help you understand and use common expressions. By the end of the course, you will be able to greet people, introduce yourself, order at a café or restaurant, talk about daily routines and understand basic texts.

Lessons are engaging and supportive, using games, role-play, audio-visual materials, and conversation practice to make learning enjoyable.

The course also weaves in cultural insights to deepen your understanding and appreciation of Italian life.

This course is ideal if you're preparing to travel to Italy or simply want to start your Italian journey with confidence and a solid foundation.

Course Breakdown:

Week 1: Unit 1

Course introduction: what to expect and how to learn a foreign language.

Italian phonetics: reading and pronouncing correctly.

The concept of formal and informal language.

Greetings and numbers

Italian culture: regions and their characteristics

Week 2:

Introducing yourself and others.

Nationalities and adjectives

Subject pronouns and the verb essere

Week 3

Describing objects: singular nouns

Indefinite articles.

Italian culture: Italian names and a few false friends

Week 4:  Unit 2

Talking about our job and professions

Present tense of regular verbs.

Week 5: 

Definite articles.

The irregular verb Fare

Reading comprehension and practice

Week 6: 

Practicing using regular verbs in everyday conversation.

Italian Culture: Interesting facts of Italian famous places

WEEK 7 Unit 3

Italian food and myths

Nouns in the plural

Ordering food and drinks

WEEK 8

Revision of all topics covered and conversation practice

Italian culture: Italian dishes and their origin
